    Good Accountancy?

    Greetings,

For the ones that use an accountancy for their Ltd, what is your opinion on the service you get? Any views on good ones?

I am between SJD and Quay and need some opinions / more options maybe. Quay are quite cheaper than SJD, i do not know if this comes with a price though!

    Thanks

I'm about to move away from Quay.

Wasn't keen on doing my own book keeping every month. I just want to send off my receipts and all that stuff dealt with for me.

      I couldn;t find one

who would actually do everything for me. Every month I was asked to details all my receipts, all my expenses, income etc then put it all in a spreadsheet which would automatically tell me how much was due to IR etc. Seems a bit of a waste of £80 a month just to use a spreadsheet.

          Quay

I am currently using Quay and the jury is still out on competency

On the one hand paying only £55@ month does limit my expectations on what level of service I should receive this amount

The trouble is so far Quay have consistently under-delivered against those reduced expectations

i nearly moved to SJD a colleague uses them and has found them to be very good. However when they decided to charge for electronic filling it put me off.

My current accountant wanted to charge too, so I did it myself. I don't really understand why I should have to, so I'm on the lookout!
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

              Online filing

Online filing charges.....that one caused a great deal of debate here a while ago, turned out to be a very good thread!

Anyway, we've never charged for this as it is a benefit to us in the long run....reduced costs and more efficient than using the old paper based process.

My accountant does have 1 plus point, he's fairly dodgy!

I guess he's not that dodgy, he doesn't want receipts for every expenditure like some do.

Darren are your people CIMA, certified or chartered or accounting technician level?

I'm tempted to move over as mine does neither the online filing, or the self assessment return, both of which are fairly easy but an extra pain to remember to fill in, which I don't really need.

My current accountant has an expenses and payments/receipts spreadsheet that I fill in once a month. it's fairly easy to fill out as oppossed to some others I've seen from other accountants, what kind of info do you expect?
Also do you have the exemption of charges thing from cater allen?

                    Cheers
