Does GW Bush care about a few stranded negroes ?

there are more and more voices in the US black community who point out to a racial prejudice in the New Orleans events.
The New Orleans Mayor told Bush and the federal government in a long interview "to get off his ass" and stop with news conferences.

The interview is a must listen - http://www.cnn.com/video/us/2005/09/...t.exclude.html

Incidentally, I just looked at CCnet for 1st time in over a year (reinstalled firefox and it seems to pick up really ancient favourites from somewhere) Nice to see its hasn't changed.

        Scary

Worked fine for me. Sounds like its rabbit in the headlights again the Mayor is very angr yet quite lucid, no aid, no organisation and people dying.

Do you? What have you done to alleviate the poverty in America?
When was the last time you fed the starving, housed the homeless, clothed the naked?
Everybody's really hot on ripping into their particular bete-noir, but have you done anything today that makes you proud, that makes you feel you contributed?
And before you bother **** off chico, praying doesn't count.
          Why not?

The difference is that Bush is the President of the USA, if something like this hit the UK and poor scottish people in Dundee died, then it would be reasonable to ask Blair, Brown et al wtf they did with the taxes.

As AtW points out, he is the president, it's his job.

There definatly is a lot of questions to be raised over New Orleans because no matter how you try to view it, you have to admit the whole thing was a total cock up

I think only the most idealistic of us think the response would have the same if N.O had been a predominatly white area and the world had loads images of pretty blonde white girls crying over lost family members instead of old beat up poor black men with accents so thick that you bearly understand them

But a seperate issue is once the reponse had started if it would have been so poorly managed, disorganised and uncontroled as it was. There were very clear failings across the board at the upper levels in the reponse that no amount of manpower or resources would solve (hell with N.O most of these were in place but they were stoped by those in control of doing what they needed to do) and the cause's of that poor management clearly reside with those higher up the food chain, all the way up the office of the president.

That all sounds very biblical DG. Wise words all should heed, unless you are Mother Theresa you have no right to criticise politicians. Bet Blair wishes he had thought of that. He probably will.

He's got all the boys out doing the media rounds. this means he cares deeply.

I just saw "Donald H. Rumsfeld" telling the world what a wonderfull job they're all doing.

                    Bush thought processes...
everything is going swell...... call dad.
everything is falling apart.... call dad (no answer), call rumsfeld.
