    Rented Digs and Council Tax

Can anyone help me out here.

I have a permanent residence where I pay full council tax for myself and my partner.

I rent accomodation and live in it only mon-fri.

As I already pay council tax on my main residence, what am I liable for in my rented accomodation?

As I am not registered for living here on the electoral role, as I am only here on busines, I should not be paying council tax, and that the property itself should at least be given non-occupancy status (half rate).

Anyone had any experience of this?

You should get the second home rate which used to be 50% but might now be up to 90% (I think).

You cannot get the unoccupied rate, because it isn't. It needs to be completely un-occupied including having no furniture.

You should qualify for a 25% discount on Council tax for being the sole occupant of the property - every little helps

Get a few students to live in there (so that you get rent), and pretend you don't live there yourself -- this would qualify for 100% discount.
