Minimum salary to preserve benefit rights.

I have just had enough odds and ends of work via my contractor company to pay myself about £5k salary this year so may as well pay enough to preserve pathetic state pension etc rights for another year.

Any one know what minimum is required? Think I have seen I can pay just under the tax/NI thresholds and declare that on P35 but would it be better to pay a bit of NI/tax to make sure it's in my records? Ta for any info.

You need the lower earnings limit. Doesn't actually mean you have to pay any NI. It was 79 p.w.

You can also pay volunatart class 3 contributions at 7.15 per week if you don't get the years credit from reaching the lower earnings limit.

Check with the DSS of course.
