    Insurance inbetween contracts

    Hello,

I was wondering if umbrella companies offer insurance inbetween contracts. I'm looking to take a month break in a few months, plus the amount of time needed to find a new contract.
Can I still be insured if I take unpaid leave through my umbrella? Or will I have to purchase personal insurance separately?

    Thank you.

Yes, you can have medical insurance, car insurance, house insurance, etc. What specifically are you wanting insurance for?

I just mean the national health insurance. I won’t be paying anything to NHS if I’m not receiving a salary so I was wondering if it still remains active.

          Best ask your employer.

If you are still deemed under employment (and officially on unpaid leave ie no P45 issued) then any insurances you had with the umbrella would stay in place (this is only terminated at the end of the employment), although most simply offer Public Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity - so do check what cover you had to be sure.

Your iPad must be working giving you a reminder. Mine hasn't arrived yet.
