GDPR - are you getting emails from recruitment agencies?

Interesting to see how GDPR is interpreted differently between agencies and in general.
Getting so many emails - mix of re-consent , here is an updated privacy policy, competitions to re-consent and some no contact. My understanding is that if data is collected correctly in the first place and legitimate interest no need for re-consent. And if they are a relevant company then why wouldn't I engage for more. Are you getting many emails?

There are a number of things in this - but the main problem will be that a lot of these companies are not 100% sure that everyone they want to spam is happy to be spammed.

So they need to trim that down.

As a lot of people are just waiting for GDPR to drop and then put in SARS to pretty much every company that contacts them - and then sue them.

    Should be fun.

this is a good thing - i'm ignoring them all and then happy to resubmit to a chosen few when I start looking again.

A few years ago I think I sent my cv to CV library and they forwarded it on to dozens of tulipty sites.

It's interesting to see how different companies are approaching this. I've had a few asking for my consent or they will remove me (mostly agencies that I've never heard of), some with their new policy, and a couple that have said that they believe that they don't need my consent because they have an interest in the data.

Until I need them again, I'll just l;et them delete my data.

            Yes, lots of the usual.

Taking absolute delight in getting GDPR re-consenting requests from every recruitment agency that's gotten my details from nefarious means and been giving me unsolicited contact for years.

Can't wait to ask a few how and when I signed up to their mailings if they dare contact me after the 25th

I won't shed a tear for them, GDPR was brought in to stop exactly this type of abuse.

It makes a change from emails regarding jobs. Which when I reply to I get no response back from.

Yes, had quite a few. Mostly from agencies I've never heard of.

I think the requirement to opt in is because many agencies harvested details from the likes of jobserve and never gained explicit consent. So they have to prove that you want them to hold your information. I suspect that the old job website T&C's that said your data was theirs to sell to whomever they wished are not good enough for GDPR compliance.

I’ve had loads of GDPR related privacy update emails but not one from one any recruitment agency. But then, I’ve only used two agents for two different jobs in nearly 10 years. I’m sure I’m on some lists, maybe they will just remove me.
