Contractor "in charge" or thinks she is.............

    Here's an interesting quandary.
Happy to accept tongue in cheek + serious opinion

Short of a polite "Foxtrot Oscar you ridiculous cock womble" type response.

Hypothetically speaking 'my mate' (because I obviously do not mean me) has this problem ..................

Have any of you dealt with a contractor (in this case who might just be based in the US so out of clubbing range) working as part of a presently totally antonymous global team of four, all providing similar services to client co. who then decides she is now Team Leader and wants to start allocating the work to her underlings?

    Disclainer
No I have not asked my accountant, and anyone that does not know the difference between the words 'advice' and 'advise' need not reply

    1. You need to coin that acronym FOYRCW.
    2. Start allocating work to the 'Team Leader' and request weekly status updates.
    3. Raise an issue about governance / organisation.

      Comes under roles and responsibilities.

Get those wrong and often the project will fail.

I don't know the situation but usually someone takes charge if there is a bit of floundering. She may have experience of leading a team before and is doing what comes naturally.

If you are not happy don't post on a forum, just raise it with her. She may end up saying that she is frustrated by progress etc and in the end you could make a friend out of her.

Don't let things fester be direct and honest.

Is what she’s asking reasonable and likely to improve delivery? If yes then what’s the problem?
Projects need leadership. If you’re not doing it don’t complain when someone else does.

Unless of course she’s micro managing it to death. That’s when you get sarcastic cos the septics love sarcasm.

That's not very agile, now is it?

You assign work to the "Team Leader" and request updates at the daily standup, for which you've appointed yourself as "Scrum Master" and which you hold on UK time at 9am thus requiring your US Team Leader to attend at some ungodly hour of the morning. When he/she misses the first stand-up, complain to the project manager/product owner that certain team members are being "obstructive".

                Points taken everyone especially @woohoo
There was not an issue with any deliverable.

My 'Mate' tells me this turned out to be a bit of a failed power grab coinciding with her becoming aware in advance of a change of hiring manager.

All sorted now and harmony has resumed...........

I hate power grabs, especially from a contractor. Just do your job and do it well.
