SC Clearance - 12 Months and still in progress

12 Months ago I applied for my SC clearance and the portal is still in progress today!
How long could it take till I get an answer?

Is there less chance of getting Clearance, the longer it drags on for?
Are there cases where the status stays in progress indefinitely?

Are you marrying one of my grandsons? If so, we are waiting for the press to do the hard work for us. If not, it might be worth enquiring to your sponsor what they think the status is.

Contact your referees and make sure they have returned the form.

The form was submitted by my sponsors 2 weeks after I completed the form.
I have spoken to my sponsors and they advise its is simply a waiting game as the clearance is based on each individuals case...

But not that long, something is blocking it...

Are you sure you have no overdrawn credit cards or something similar? I know one case where clearance wasn't granted until the guy had paid off a credit card in his name that was being used by his ex-wife. He didn't find that out until he had independently discovered the problem and sorted it; hey presto...

I have a clean history with only 2 address changes.
            No overdrawn CC
My wife on the other hand has had more address changes, a couple of name changes and previously married (10 years back) to a phyco who was known to the authorities.
Could her previous history be the hold up?

We don't know. Do what PhilTheGreek says.

                are you being paid?
I presume so otherwise you'd have given up by now.

If so, and the sponsor is comfortable, why worry? If you fail they bin you, if you wait you get paid.

Are you willing to share who the sponsor is?

Could be. Not a lot you can about it if it is. If you're still working probably best to ignore it and live with the inconvenience

Sharing SC clearance sponsors on a public forum isn't the smartest idea.
