    Phil Hammond's Tax on Age

Robbing Peter to pay Paul? What do you think?

I think it's deeply unconservative & there's no way the youngsters will be duped into voting Tory as a result. No, they'll just end up losing even more of their core vote.

Think of it as the Brexit bill.

Politicians have a very strange idea of what 'fair' is. Buying votes should be outlawed.

Hopefully it will have Veteran banging his desk so hard his Spitfire picture will jump off the wall and break his keyboard so he won't be able to post on here ever again.

i.e. Politics (or at least democracy) should be outlawed.

It has nothing whatever to do with Brexit, so just for once can't you STFU about Brexit?

Something like this is inevitable, because as each year ticks by, with old timers lasting longer and longer, the rate of home ownership among the younger generation is reducing steadily year on year.

When you're twenty, it might be a good laugh to flatshare with a load of trendy young friends. But going into your thirties, with still no property and little career advance, the joke starts wearing a bit thin, and that's the position millions of UK young people are in today AFAICS.

The Tories' disastrous election result in June was blamed on a poorly-thought through "dementia tax".
So the new Plan is to come up with something else to target his own core vote.

Not saying that I disagree with the morality of the idea, but it is hardly likely to ingratiate him to the blue rinse brigade.

The horns of a dilemma and no mistake. Shame really.
