Umbrella company payslip - different amounts of tax

    Yes I have asked them!

OK, been with umbrella since start of tax year. Also, provided them with tax code etc. Surely the tax every week (based on same gross) should be the same? Am I right?

I've noticed it fluctuates a fair bit by £200 or so. Hmmmm.

Sounds like alot! The only thing that would normally affect the tax is your earnings to date prior to that employment, but then I would normally expect to see a coding notice change.

Did you have any breaks in your employment? If you had a week off that could affect the week after's pay as your tax free allowance would carry over - so you would pay less tax the following week.

Tax each month is calculated by starting at the beginning of the tax year, working out the total tax due on the total amount to date and deducting what's already been paid. So some variation can be expected, given months are different lengths. How much rather depends on your rate, but it will level out over time.
