    Direct after Interview

    Hi All

I went to an interview via an agency. I told the agency I didn't think it went well from either side and wasn't really interested putting myself through to the second stage. So it all went quiet.

I was contacted today by the client saying they have dropped the agency but want to talk to me still as they thought I did well / want me.

I am still of the same opinion that I didn't think it went well / not sure we are a good match but I am interested in talking to them and maybe giving the role ago. On the bench for two weeks and getting bored now lol

    So....

Would the agency have any come back against me or just the company if I ended up taking the role ?

    I never agreed to anything...

I am pretty certain the client is going to be in hot water but that is their problem. Its just me I am concerned about.

    Cheers

Can't see any comeback against you. It's also quite probable that when they ditched the agency - and you have to wonder why - they also ensured all loose ends like client/agency handcuffs were cleared out at the same time.
    Blog? What blog...?

The agency's contract is with the client. It's up to them two to to fight it out. The agent may try and sue for a finders fee which the client has to decide whether to pay. Normally when this happens the client isn't really interested in backing you up so will often just let you go rather than fight it. If the client is happy to take the agents crap on then happy days, go direct.

In a nutshell, not your problem.

          You have no liability.

However, as for the client we will hunt them down and send them an invoice for the introduction.

              We do.

Also you need to consider that if the client are prepared to risk screwing over another company for their margin they

              a) wouldn't think twice about doing the same to you
              b) may be skint

Not uncommon for this to happen to contractors, they helpfully inform us of what happened.

Yes I've had a (prospective) client approach direct not long after a rejection via the agency.

A few months later they were in administration.

Hope you didn't put that on LinkedIn 😃

Are you prepared to chase payments etc now you haven't got at agency to provide regular cash flow?
