The wind's got up enough that the blokes working up the scaffolding around the chimney stack of the Victorian villa next door have knocked off early

      Windy here too!

According to my weather app, the wind is gusting at 24 km/h. On the beaufort scale, that equates to a moderate breeze, "Raises dust and loose paper; small branches moved".

Looking out the window, my observations match that of a near gale "Whole trees in motion; inconvenience felt when walking against the wind", which is in the 50 - 61 km/h range.

24mph here, which is on the cusp between forces 5, "Small trees in leaf begin to sway" and 6, "Large branches in motion; whistling heard in telegraph wires; umbrellas used with difficulty"

Lunch: roast pork and apple sauce bap (wholemeal)

And the post brings a letter addressed to "Local Resident" about a planned weekend music festival on the park across from the other end of the road in September. When Kasabian did a thing there the other year I could hear it over at the old place, and I was just wondering a day or two ago what it would have sounded like from here; looks like I'll get to find out, though I don't know if Kasabian will be involved this time

There should be the Caribbean Carnival before that though, and possibly other things. That's what comes of living near the park where such things happen

As a newcomer to the area - it is your job to complain about the noise coming from the 500 year old church bells / pub (delete as appropriate) and closing the place down.

The first thing eaten in 42 hours has been a fish finger wrap.

I wasn't especially hungry but decided I ought to eat something.

The festival promoters have arranged a meeting for Local Residents at the Friends Meeting House round the corner next Wednesday evening, so I need to dream up something to complain about by then

(On the basis that the complaint should be utterly irrational) it's easy - a lack of (free) alcohol at the meeting...

Equally discounted tickets for (very) local residents

                  Torrential downpour now!

And while that was starting, I finally had the medication review that was due in February but delayed because of switching surgeries. It was done on the phone, and the pharmacist at the new place was better than the old GP: he'd just glance at the results and say it was fine (or tell me to watch my drinking) but she quickly went through all of the tests, explaining the figures and so on, and asked a bunch of other useful questions. And she didn't tell me to watch my drinking

The wind is howling down the blocked chimneys. It was quite interesting at 2pm before the rain came down.

I'm tired from cleaning the oven.
