For all those wanting access to the private forum, you need to send me a private message.

It's not difficult and the fact you have to do this is repeated by myself and our good moderator cojak every couple of pages of this thread.

Well I cant claim to have read all the threads on here and have re-joined again recently. I have had a chat today with the above mentioned FCA Mr M J Perry who was very professional and spent some time talking to me about my options and position. All I can say that was a positive experience.

That's great if you are getting good advice. Many including me have experience sky rocketing fees and incomplete information posted in such a way that more get fearful.

If u r getting good service, I am nothing but happy. I think Saloes took guys on in edge for a much better and bigger service for 1/4 the fee compared to what MJP quote for just putting the file in order.

Firstly apologies for the long post.

I do not write on here very often, but my recent letter from HMRC has prompted me to say something about the services I have received from Michael Perry.

I have used Michael Perry and found him to be extremely professional and knowledgeable and very patient with my questions. I must admit that at times I have been very frustrated as I am someone who would not dream of getting involved with any schemes that I would have thought were not legal. Like most of you I have believed statements like "we have ex HMRC inspectors working for us who agree this is legal", "tax barristers have stated that this complies with regulations" and "HMRC have seen and have not said it was illegal" etc.

The bottom line is: sometimes the advice that you receive from accountants is wrong - I know my accountant told me that certain schemes were valid as well. So when Michael presents the facts in a way that I do not like but which reflect the reality that I (we) find ourselves in, then I appreciate that. I prefer to be told the truth even though it hurts as opposed to a lie that makes me feel good.

I did have reservations over the fees Michael charges as I thought I could have used that to pay off the tax due. But with hindsight, I can honestly say that I am glad that on my "team" I have someone to tell me the situation as is, as opposed to the scheme owners who took 6% every month off me for all those years and left me in this situation.

Incidentally, thanks to Michael I have received a notification from HMRC that my tax bill has reduced by an amount that that is more than the fees I have paid for his services. ,So that is a good win!! One of the points that troubled me was paying the funds upfront. However, reading though some of the comments on here I am please to know that Michael will continue to provide help for as long as necessary without additional fees.

My situation was a little complicated as I have used a number of different schemes so using just one of the schemes offered did not make sense for me as each one required me to allow them to represent me separately which did not make sense for me. I am an IT contractor used to working within situations when services are being subcontracted out. That is how I see Michaels service, for me he is the SME who understands all the ins and outs of the situation I find myself in, he responds to mails to HMRC, adivses on my options re APN’s etc and I know I do not need to pay a penny more for his help no matter how long this may last.

Bottom line guys, we all took a decision to believe the marketing of the various scheme providers. No one forced us. And I feel bad about that.

I for one, am pleased that I have someone who I can rely on to work personally for me and not treat me as another person in a group of applicants. Does this mean that he can get rid of all the demands of HMRC? I doubt it -although wish he could! I do feel stitched up by the scheme providers but ultimately after the due diligence I performed - or I thought I had – it wasn’t enough. I will stand up for Michael Perry because he has stood up for me, And if he had a way of teleporting away all the HMRC records so that I would not have to pay anything then I would be over the moon! But that aint gonna happen guys.

He is on my team and for that I am extremely grateful and so is my wife.. I said we may not be able to have a holiday this year.. and now we can! So happy wife = I get my shirts ironed!!
