I sent them a scan of an HMRC letter with my name and address on. They already have this information as they wrote to me.

I want to see everything relating to me that they have and this satisfies the request for ID without giving them anything further that they could use.

Theres a bunch of people on here who have given ID - any way to mitigate further risk now? Or just sit and wait and then play by ear?

They have enough details to send you a letter - that is all you need to send back to them

            Good. Have they accepted this?

Give them nothing. They are trying to con money from you, why would you give them anything.... What is the gain, to find out what information they hold on you? You know what you signed up for and how the scheme worked. A solution needs to be found to put this to bed once and for all. the criminals can sit on whatever information they think they have.

In light of Trethowans asking for ID from some then should we perhaps just send a SAR only to West 28th

                    1) you provide them with exactly the same information they have on you - a redacted driving licence has your name and address - and you could hide the number, your date of birth and issue date.
                    2) west 28th won't do anything and are so small that excuse may be seen as valid. That's not the case for Trethowans and Ethica Resolve so chase them up..

Edit - issue date may reveal when you moved house so hide that...

It's very important to know what information they have on you as depending on what they do or don't have, it will either help you or potentially go against you. If for example they say you owe X amount, these are the terms, this is when the money is due etc, you need to establish whether that was agreed in any paperwork you may or may not have signed. If they don't have any paperwork (I believe they are referring to it as the "master services agreement"), then they don't really have much of a case i.e. the evidence. And even if they do have the paperwork good luck to them - they have tried to get these to fall under the CCA which retrospectively is beyond wrong given they have fallen into different jursidictions (i.e. IoM and then the UK and then back again etc). And they are statute barred anyway for those "if" this is the case assuming you have never acknowledged a debt exists or made a partial payment.
