I joined AML in FY13/14 and have received a letter from the HMRC questioning my SA return for that year. AML have also contacted me and said that they will liaise with the HMRC on my behalf. I am also still with AML and therefore now concerned about FY14/15 and 15/16.

    Questions:
    1. What is the likelihood that I will have to pay for FY 13/14
    2. If I do then am I automatically admitting liability and will have to pay for FY 14/15 and 15/16?
    3. Should I be getting out of AML asap and going back to a limited company or umbrella?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask .. but I am feeling a little desperate!

    Thanks.
    Hi

I would suggest you read as much on the subject (via these forums) as you can to grasp what the Government and HMRC are doing.

AML's non-DOTAS scheme which you seem to be in will be targeted soon, so prepare yourself.

There is also a collective BiG Group action group which is dealing with the current EBT scheme's pre 2011 but hopefully will start to look at PBT's at the end of the year.

IMHO I would get out ASAP and go back to Ltd Co.

All of the schemes you have read about in this section are being targeted by HMRC, so they will come after the money at some point. The first step of this will probably be in the form of an APN, so as Merclad says prepare for this, as you'll only have 90 days to make the advanced payment or arrange time to pay.

With regards to having to pay/admitting liability, an APN is just a payment on account so the matter of whether you have to pay or not will be decided at that point.

Best thing to do is to take some independent legal advice or join one of the action groups that have been formed.

I'm part of Big Group, and they are doing a good job. I'm sure some of the others can chime in with other groups that have been formed

        Hi all,

I'M currently under investigation for 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 for trentburg and 2012/2013 for Futurelink. Prior to today I had verbally communicated with HMRC that I would be willing to settle. I've received my letter with settlement offer which I obviously need to respond to in the next day or two.

I'm in the unfortunate situation of having been out of work for a significant portion of this year, and I am really going to struggle to meet even the settlement opportunity which is currently on offer, so I've decided to delay things by joining Big Group in the hope of a better outcome. Even if there is not a better outcome, hopefully by the time it comes to pay I'll be in a better financial situation.

I'm trying to sign up at the moment, but the form doesn't work at all on Chrome, and when I try it in Edge I'm able to complete the form, but once submitting I get a blank screen so I've no idea if it's worked or not. I've asked for a callback from WTT but was wondering if anyone else had had similar issues to these?

Thanks - And best of luck to everyone fighting HMRC on this.

Have signed up and monies paid, feeling like I have wrestled back a small amount of control.

DO3 submitted to CLSO but no settlement offer received

                      Hi,

I submitted a DO3 under CSLO for tax years 2006-7 and 2007-2008 - the two years for which I received a COP8. The SO deadline has now passed. I didn't receive a Settlement Offer and other than the automatic 'thank you' email on initial submission, HMRC haven't replied to me.

I know they're swamped, but other than being able to show 'I did my bit', are there any other conclusions that can be made??
