Vetting this way is correct and important. We did the same for our group. You are going to share all information freely within the group and you don't want HMRC or someone not aligned with your group's interest in the group. -
That's the way it works, I believe.

Much needed due deligence
I was a bit concerned about the request for the personal data as well.
OKR will share his personal info with you, if satisfy the much needed due diligence to make it is water tight from snooping...
Besides it is in our best interest to make sure the private forum remains private.
