Instead we have wheel turns, nothing changes.

indeed in which case we need to treat the miners fairly for everyone's sakes. That doesn't mean keeping uneconomic pits open.

sorry to hear you aren't getting it, try getting her flowers and a nice meal that normally works.

The bankers should have been treated to a hot poker and told to sort themselves out, but New Lie gave them an open cheque book. I don't agree with bailing out banks and said so at the time.

That would have been the moral thing to do maybe; but if the Yanks didn't do likewise at the same time it would have been stupid and catastrophic for the UK - The US and anyone else willing to be more pragmatic and prop up their banks, however undeserving and blameworthy, would have cleaned up at our expense (literally)!

That was so good I had to read it twice.

                FTFY.

If we're not longer a capitalist society what are we?

A corporatist society like the rest of western society
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

I've way wondered what it would have been like to live during the time of Al Capone.

Fair point, but I suppose bank assets are so widely owned and relied upon that laissez faire capitalism can't always be taken to its logical extremes.
