Annual precipitation is very likely to increase in most of northern Europe and decrease in most of the Mediterranean area. In central Europe, precipitation is likely to increase in winter but decrease in summer. Extremes of daily precipitation are very likely to increase in northern Europe. The annual number of precipitation days is very likely to decrease in the Mediterranean area. The risk of summer drought is likely to increase in central Europe and in the Mediterranean area.

True, they think AGW is 'undeniable'.

        Just for information:

        Flooding In The Somerset Levels

one explanation for the county of Somerset’s name is that, in prehistory, because of winter flooding people restricted their use of the Levels to the summer, leading to a derivation from Sumorsaete, meaning land of the summer people.

but you are wrong about the costs. Oil and gas prices are plumetting in the USA as frakking takes off and the tars sands oil come on stream. There is no reason why it shouldnt happen here

Maybe so but it hasn't happened yet and, from what I have read, it does not seem too likely that our deposits will make anything like the contribution of those in the US.

Why don't they put hydro power generators in all the flooded roads and in doorways of flooded houses? Then, the more flooding we had, the less need there would be to burn fossil fuels and increase CO2. An automatic compensation mechanism!

That sink hole was actually a dene hole. An old well dug into the chalk, possibly by the vikings
Went down one of those once when I worked in Greenhithe, Kent. Blokes I worked with at lunchtime took turns to lower each other down with a rope. Vertical chalk shaft with lots of flints and opened out to two short channels at bottom. Probably been properly blocked off now, ruddy elf and safety!

I do - I was out there helping pack sand-bags for the flood hit towns in the Thames valley.
All this extra water was supposed to be snow but isn't.
That would be a tulip load of snow.

erm, you could try actually reading the projections

11.3 Europe and the Mediterranean - AR4 WGI Chapter 11: Regional Climate Projections

And the Met Office has three papers on the 'pause'. The recent pause in warming - Met Office

The 'controversy' only exists in the sections of the media, generally conservative-leaning who like to appear 'balanced', Virtually all climate scientists, virtually every published study and 100% of scientific associations all agree with the IPCC position that warming is unequivocal and most of it is anthropogenic. Denial is looking increasingly silly
Those same climate scientists who don't get paid if they publish contrary to what their respective government entities expect them to?

Correct. and he is talking about a bunch of pumps that were brought in to deal with a crisis.
A crisis that was mostly caused by EA mismanagement.

If the EA new what they were doing, the met office knew what they were doing and the climate scientists knew what they were doing
why werent these magnificent pumps put in place beforehand ?

and why switch off the ones that were there ?

They both agree that the planets has not warmed for 17 years

so we need to look elsewhere to see why we have had the flooding.

BTW, the data is becoming available on the rainfall over the winter in the UK. It was very heavy, but is now said to be a once every ten year event.

Again, well done for helping out. thats good that is
