Oh dear, not me. I used to point my finger and, in my mind, shoot people in authority or those I didn't like.

Actually the whole story is pretty ignorant. It's pretty well documented that some people simply don't like sex or have very low/non-existent sex-drives in the first place. e.g. Asexuality - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia so the very question "is a celibate life even possible" in that incredulous tone is rather silly.

That's a bit of a difference to someone choosing to (pretend to) abstain for religious reasons though. True asexuality isn't particularly common. Ruling out those few true asexuals, it's a valid question.

Asexuals don't necessarily abstain from sex though, therefore most don't live anything like a 'celibate' life. I thus still wonder how realistic true celibacy is (for someone who isn't already an asexual).
