Wrong again.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostYou don't get out much do you?
However, we should all be very happy you've not added to the gene pool. Still a chance for you to have a shot at the darwin awards, unless you are the jaffa people whisper about.Comment

Sadistic child abuse is rife across Britain, MPs warned - Crime - UK - The Independent
The internet is a tool in this, no more. Child abuse is widespread throughout the world, probably less here than many places because it is taken so seriously. In third world /developing countries little action is taken.
I'm with you Xoggoth to a point, I don't believe that child abuse is less widespread in the UK at the moment, as our communities are pretty detached - it's easier for child abuse to go unnoticed if the social circles aren't tight enough to notice it... (If that makes sense).
On another note, it pains me to say this but I now firmly believe that the internet needs censoring or policing - it should not be "open by default" but restricted until you give proof of age / ID and open it up. Children have too much privacy on smartphones that they can be watching anything and no adult eyes can see (the screens are so small and personal).Comment

Children have no need for phones, much less smart phones. So please dont make my life more complicated because you have given a child a gadget that is aimed at adults.Originally posted by Scoobos View PostOn another note, it pains me to say this but I now firmly believe that the internet needs censoring or policing - it should not be "open by default" but restricted until you give proof of age / ID and open it up. I'm with you here. Our kids don't need one, we've told them when there is a deonostrable need for one, they'll get one, and not a smart phone either.Originally posted by escapeUK View PostChildren have no need for phones, much less smart phones. I have no children. Unless you walk around with your eyes closed you'll see that many children have smartphones and a slight inconvienience for you to perform an additional step to access adult material outweighs the damage done to children.Originally posted by escapeUK View PostChildren have no need for phones, much less smart phones. It's questionable that smart phones are "aimed at adults" too, they are aimed at every possible consumer.
As much as your banging the personal responsibility drum, there's social responsibility too..Comment

This is missed by lots of folk nowadays, to be honest; as parents, you have a moral obligation to ensure your Kids understand social responsibility, within reason.Originally posted by Scoobos View PostI have no children. It's tough though, as they'll never learn about life with us telling them what to do all the time, so within limits, they have to make their own mistakes.
Tough really.Comment
