You don't see this often in modern Germany (people can and do go to jail for it there) -

Inability to accept change? They did. Many went to war from my town after that and many paid the ultimate price, we will not forget that or what the **** is it we do every year?

No, inability to accept that Germans changed - majority of them who live got nothing to do with Nazi war anyway and they did their best to avoid falling into same trap, something that can't be said about some people in this country who can wear nazi symbols without any risk of going to jail.

Germans paid full price for that war - that not including Soviet occupation over 50 years, so frankly that chap should shut the hell up and read up a bit on history of the Empire.

Sure, go visit a country whose citizens were responsible for wiping out half of your family and have a pint and reminisce. Don't be a prick, let that generation deal with it in their own way.

Back in the 80s I had a mate from uni who I would occasionally stay with in Selsey Bill where his old man was a fisherman.

On one occasion when we were both up to our eyes with chemical refreshments my mate popped out to the local shop for some supplies leaving me to hold the fort.

There was a knock on the door and on opening it I was greeted by Patrick Moore asking if he could buy a couple of lobsters.

I had no idea he was a local resident and my mental state has never fully recovered from that particular experience.

I never did get to meet him but he was the spur that led me to studying astronomy at uni.

              Respect.

Soviet Union was responsible for deaths in my family and Nazies could only kill so many because of Soviet's attitude to human life.

What that guy says is basically genocide - this makes him no better than nazies in my view, but since he is very old I can write it off as him being an idiot.

I do a loty of consulting work for German companies, both in the uK and in Germany.
I have made some good German friends over the years, they do (despite rumours to the contrary) have a good sense of humour, are always warm and welcoming, and they always keep in touch.

They also always insist on paying for everything on a night out.

He served his country against the Nazi aggressor and suffered his own loss. Don't be so quick to judge.
