Indeed, terrific machines. Alas, nowadays the UK has not a single factory that can build power station steam turbines. How sad.Public Service Posting by the BBC - Bloggs Bulls**t Corp.

Thorium is the answer. Maybe. But no use if you want a nuclear weapons industry.

"Lunar Solar" power could be good too Space-based solar power - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is a shame we can't just run a big cable up to the moon.Comment

If you had the technology to build a cable into space then the same technology could be used to put a syphon tube up there and drain the oceans.Originally posted by PRC1964 View Post"Lunar Solar" power could be good too Space-based solar power - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That would be a good film wouldn't it?I'm alright JackComment

Well, not really, because if we did the cable would just get wound around the earth as the moon orbited, until eventually the moon would crash into the earth and extinguish life once and for all.Originally posted by PRC1964 View PostIt is a shame we can't just run a big cable up to the moon.
I think I preferred the windmills TBH.While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment

That would be an awesome way to store the energy from windmills.Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostIf you had the technology to build a cable into space then the same technology could be used to put a syphon tube up there and drain the oceans.

Yes, and it would save us all from drowning when the polar ice melts.Originally posted by doodab View PostThat would be an awesome way to store the energy from windmills.Comment

We would need to design such a contraption carefully in order to avoid the water either freezing or evaporating into space, both of which could lead to a shortage of beer or other unacceptable outcomes.Originally posted by PRC1964 View PostYes, and it would save us all from drowning when the polar ice melts. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. I randomly thought the other day that if you can build a rigid structure up to space or near it, you would have a constant wind of several hundred mph because the atmosphere high up isn't rotating as fast as the Earth.
Dunno how high you have to go to reach the jet stream though. But we're going to have buildings 1 mile high in our lifetimes.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
