I'd go stitches, lopped the top off mine many years ago and just bandaged it up. It healed ok but left a deep scar and still feels numb-ish when touching things with that finger, sure it woulda ended up prettier if done properly.

I'll finish working from home and then have another look later. If it looks gammy when I take the wrapping off I'll consider it then.

If you plan to leave it that long, chuck a couple of maggots in.

          and an ice cube

Don't let it dry, keep it moist, less scarring. I let a gash dry out, I reckon if I'd kept it damp the skin would have repaired better, just use a good plaster, and kind of hold the skin so it sticks together, if you get a dried out scab, you get a scar.

Lots of blood all over the newly lain snow. The missus reckons i need stiches, but surely if i just sort of glue it together and wrap it tightly it will seal itself.

              Stiches or tightly wrapped padding???

Just be careful not to scratch your arse. It only takes one stray crumb and you've got septicemia.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

You work in IT and you don't consider fingers important enough to take a quick trip to the hopsicle?
