Singapore Airlines have always been streets ahead of other airlines in terms of inflight entertainment, last time I used them to go from the UK to NZ the flight was not long enough for me to be able to watch everything I wanted.

Other airlines are getting better at this too, Emirates are usually pretty good although they do tend to cater for many more languages than just English which reduces the choices for English speakers.

Air New Zealand's inflight entertainment is now superb, but as previously said, they are probably not going to be first choice for a trip from London to Oz.

Last time I was researching this topic (about two years ago) Thai Airlines were still running some old aircraft with only one big screen to be shared among the entire cabin so look out. Cathay Pacific on the other hand were looking good.

Off topic, but has anyone sat in cattle class on an A380 yet? Is there any more room compared to the usual dire 31" that you get with Virgin, BA etc....? I can no longer fit into 31", my body is too stiff and unfit.

        Emirates are good, massive selection.
Last time I flew to Singapore with them I had more lined up to watch than time on the flight

Just done Oz via Singapore Airlines.
A380 out, 777 on the way back. Same seats and AV system on both planes. Seat pitch (32" I think) was OK for me at 5'8"

Lots of films to choose from. Saw 2012, Precious, Blind Side and Twilight Saga - New Moon . Oh, and 17 Again

Supplied headphones were crap - ended up using my own but in mono as they use the double plug thingy in the seats.

System had TV, Radio, Games and in flight info. Screen has a USB socket and should work for MP3, Video, and PDF's. Also has phono video input and a network RJ45 socket.

Each seat seems to have its own PC running all this with some version of Linux. They had to reboot everything on the way out to get it to work and I saw a few people getting theirs rebooted on the way back. A couple got moved as theirs didn't work at all so beware if you get one like that and a full flight!

the adapters for those cost next to nothing and are worth keeping in your travel bag

Happened to me on a full flight to Florida. They ended up giving me £50 duty free credit

If the approach does not look right, something is on the runway or we cannot safely be down within the first 1/3 we will over-shoot and rejoin the circuit.
