Sandwiches to eat before you die

Its not a sandwich - but I went to lunch with one of the Saudi chaps today....
A pale soup - very thin, without any "bits" looked a bit like washing up water... but tasted quite nice in a "well it has a taste but I am not sure what it is" way..... (a bit like the juice in Japanese Miso soup but more spicy)
followed closely by two huge plates of savoury rice (not quite a risotto, not quite a byriani)
1 topped with some form of "Char Broiled" hunks of "Beef" that had been marinated in herbs/spices etc....
1 topped with some form of barbequed Chicken marinated in other herbs/spices
and a couple of bowls of a lemony yoghurty thing and a chilli/tomato sauce

We both got stuck in like trenchermen but couldn't finish it all.... and it only cost 50 Riyals including a couple of cans of coke each.... thats about a tenner!

Tasted good.... and beats albino nob.... although if I get the squits later I might change my opinion!

Told you is was tasty and cheap there...can't guarantee there won't be side effects though.
Small tip, if you ever end up at a goat grab don't eat the tongue no matter how much they try and push it on you, blah blah it will make you a poet blah blah.

The thing is unchewable, you chomp down and it squeezes flat then bounces back to its original shape. Each munch releases more of its foul foul taste!
If they're not going to let you off without eating something any normal country would bin then go for the dick or a bit of kidney or something...just no tongue!

thank for the advice..... I will keep it in mind over the next few months.... some of the guys are suggesting a "get together" so that'll be their opportunity to take the piss out of the white eyes!

Thanks for the tip - I'm having one right now dropped the apple sauce and replaced with stuffing. Don't understand fruit with savoury.

Marmite, then slices of cheese, and on top some tomato slices. Very tasty, and goes down a treat.

(I'd go easy on the marmite though, because it contains a lot of salt.)

It is dark brown rye bread: Schwarzbrot. Absolutely delicious. You can get it in Lidl's, of course. And probably Aldi. And health food shops.

Can get it in Tesco here now. Got a taste for it years ago whilst travelling, goes with just about anything you care to top it with.

There's some dense German black or brown bread (perhaps it's not even called bread) that tastes great on its own when toasted. It takes ages to toast though and I don't remember the name of it.
