I'm not having a go at saying you DA, as Maggie's not-much-of-a-secret lovechild, shouldn't vote Tory. If that is what you believe is the right thing to do - and it clearly is - then please go and do it. I'd give you a lift to the Polling Station if you needed one.

And those who really do believe that Gordo has learned his lesson and will turn the economy round in the next five years, I have no problem such people voting that way, if it makes them happy.

What I object to is people who think both/all the big parties are awful, and then they go and vote for one of them. It is rewarding bad behaviour and makes no sense to me at all.

And the "I'd vote for X but that would be a wasted vote" mentality is worse than a wasted opportunity in that it negates the vote of someone who may well have voted for the same minor party / independent. Hence, if you don't want to vote for any of them, then just don't turn up.

Voting for someone you don't want is an illogicality made popular by big party spindoctoring.

Tactical voting by people who want neither big party does not work: it just guarantees either red or blue get in.

As HAB says, spoil the ballot paper. If you won't vote away from the shysters, at least make some form of protest.

Because ideologically Tory governments are naturally laissez faire. They do not believe in the state controlling our lives and nor are they motivated by envy.

Either way the poor are going to be poor but at least the Tories wont chop down the money trees that create the wealth.

What labour have at last finally proven beyond any doubt whatsoever is that there is nothing moral about socialism and that "representatives of the people" (labour MPs) are as much if not more on the make than Tories.
