Although, I do feel that "Triffid", or "Triff" for short is definitely a boy's name.

Perhaps in these days of economic strife, parents could be sponsored by large companies to name their offspring after brands or products - like they used to do with horses in horse racing. So you could have baby 'Persil Washerswhiter Smith' or Domestos Jones etc...

Domestos - definitely a girls name.
