funny enough, I posted on here a couple of weeks ago about diving in to help out a woman with a kid who was getting a seriously hard time from a guy.

one of the comments was 'dont get involved in a domestic'

You're right there is nothing I can do about, which is probably why me and quite a few others do get wound up about it - feeling of helplessness, just so frustrating ?
There are many awful crimes being committed and most of them don't get so much press coverage. You must be constantly stressed.

Yes there are and no I don't. Why certain crimes stick out more than others I don't know. The first one that did really bug me was the little lad from Liverpool, mainly because that was VERY close to home (geographically that is)

          Not me.

Feelings of helplessness, yep, I can run with that. Something that I don't have anymore. Not sure if it's an age or training thing, I notice that Menelaus has a similar outlook to myself.

Agree with Churchill. The modern media brings every tragedy into our living rooms, we can't get worked up over all of them.

Often I think this digital concern is counterproductive. The plain fact is that there are always going to be cute kids killed by their parents but when there is such an emotional furore over individual cases we can rush into rules and regulations that restrict the development of the majority or divert resources from other places they would be better used.

Sensible laws and regulations are best made with a cold heart and statistics.

You can't prevent evil people from hurting and killing. You can stop them doing it again by locking them up.
And we are not helpless, but most of us won't do anything if we see something going on.

Suspect it's a training thing, to be honest.

In the same way that people who went to Harrow, Eton, QVS (etc) all have the same scars, Churchill and I share them too.

Oh, and, FWIW - I'm not Churchills sockie.

Really? We've had a similar conversation before on CUK but FWIW I think it's disgusting if this is the case. There's almost always something you can do.

Sadly I think not. Don't have much personal experience beyond breaking up a couple of fights (a painful experience but I'd do it again) and ringing the cops. Anecdotal evidence suggest that most people think other peoples problems are none of their business.

                      I hope I'm wrong.
