Not at all, there are few cars on the road that can keep up, apart from your 50k plus m3s, m5s et al. Depends what you mean by punch at the top end, 120 mph arrives pretty quickly, the top ends is where it has the most power. British roads don't really have enough space or the speed limits to do more.
Doesn't really say anything other than the vauxhall has a turbo and might be good for towing. The s2000 still remains the most powerful per litre non turbo charged engine in the world AFAIK. That's such a bad comparison it isn't even funny, however Some Capris were faster than some Porsches. The s2000 is faster than the Boxster, and comparable z4s. Name a car sub 30k that is substancially faster, the engine is also desgned for the car, rather than borrowed out of a saloon car or hot hatch. I had a little illegal race-ette with a Z4 up a hill with an overtaking lane from almost a standstill once. We were together with nothing in it to start with, then he had to change up to third and I still had another 3000 rpm to go. Bye bye Z4.Originally posted by Bagpuss View Post

It's something that a lot of people don't understand about the S2000: if you can rev higher, you can stay in a lower gear longer, and that makes it a pretty fast car. Take it on a trackday where you can stay in the VTEC zone and it'll embaress a lot more expensive machinery and suprise people who thought it wasn't very fast as their mate had one and it didn't "pull" like his Saxo.
But TBH I hate the way people focus on the engine. I love the handling, the balance, the quick steering and the brakes are very good too. And contrary to popular belief, it's quite responsive out of VTEC. It's an enormously fun car to drive, if you can drive, which is after all the point. I'd much rather have that than limitless grip, or hundreds of torques.
But some people will never get it, and that's a good thing.Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment
