As you said, the S2000 is not as fast as the old Z4 3.0Si (265bhp engine). If you wring the honda`s neck it won`t be too far behind but the Z4 just has a much better engine for road use (torque 234 at 4000 RPM`s (or less) vs S2000 torque with only 155 at something lke 6700rpm). Sothe Z4 3.0 Si is a LOT faster than the S2000 in daily use due to it`s massively flexible engine and still faster using high rpms also.

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

The Si isn't the standard Z4 model, to compare apples try the S2000 Type V.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostHow is the S2000 faster than the old Z4 3.0si?
Z4Si v S2000 Type-VScience isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

It's not a lot faster and not much power from 3 litres, only an extra 27bhp from 1 litre more!Originally posted by SuperZ View PostNEw Z4 is 200kg heavier though.

The 3 litre is only faster if you don't like changing gear, in such case you'd be better with a diesel.

So the S2000 is 0.1 sec slower then the Z4 or boxster 2.2 1/2. Does it really matter. Roof down, 2 seats, acceleration. I'm happy with that. S2000 it is then.Originally posted by Bagpuss View PostIt's not a lot faster and not much power from 3 litres, only an extra 27bhp from 1 litre more!

Comparing the old Z4 to the Honda - there is a clear winner if you are looking for a true sports car (the Honda) - if you are looking practicality then sadly its the BM.
Haven't driven the new Z4 (Clarkson raved about it).
New Audit TT is a fun drive (both the 2.0 and Quattro) - actually the 2.0 is a better engine.
Smart money on the MX-5
BMW - Yawn
S2000 - Wa Hoo !
But back to the original 10k question - I would go for the Honda every time.Last edited by weemster; 30 July 2009, 12:05.Comment
