I once had a Capri (Capri Commanche) built by the bloke who did the Savage Cortinas (Jeff Uren.) The 3.0l block is bored out to the max (90/1000) which takes it up to a 3.1 (like the RS3100) and the crankshaft is modified so that it has a longer throw which gave it a 3.2l capacity. As far as I'm aware only 12 were made. Mine was a rust heap but for its day it went like pigtulip off of a hot shovel

At that time if IRC the Porsche 924 had an audi 100 engine and struggled to get to 60 in under 10 seconds while the 2.8i Capri did 60 in 7.9

        Your comparisons make me laugh

Honda were selling brand new non-limited edition cars recently for 14k to try to get rid of the stock, depreciating all other S2000`s in the process. So maybe 10k can now buy a lot of S2000.

Some people never get it.......I do get it, I`ve owned similar cars before but the S2000 is not my cuppa, not when I drove it back to back with a Z4 3.0Si and then went on to buy the Z4 Si Coupe - I just realised the Z4 was better in all respects. If you get the chance try one yourselves but preferably try one with the a few miles on it. Mine had covered quite a few miles and really came into it`s own around 25000 miles (I bought it new) - the engine and exhaust note on full song was very nice. I know a few S2000 lovers who actually converted to the Z4 Si side and state very cleary it`s faster and even sounds better than the screaming 4 pot.

The S2000 was special back in 1999. With a Z4 3.0 Si especially, you`ll get more bang per buck all round, better styling, sculpured lines, and classy.

Do it, save pennies and get a Z4 3.0 Si - it is worth the extra cost.. Besides, you`ll always be a ricer in an S2000 - the performance car of the working class blue collar workers (he he he, I`m teasing)

They may make you laugh, but they illustrate that torque figures are only part of the story. Electric cars have massive torque, but I wouldn't want one.

I like the new Z4, but I tried the old one and prefered the S2000, it was more like a sports car and the ride was less harsh. I don't want a computer to take away the driving experience so the S won hands down. Plus, the old Z4 Bangle design isn't anywhere near as pretty as the new one (I do think that is a proper job)

Top Gear took the Porsche, the BMW 3.0 and the s2000 around the track, The stig drove and the difference was 10ths of a second, non of the cars stood out as faster than the others. And no they weren't selling the S off for 14k, they dropped it to about 19. I sold my 4 year old one for 12k, which is a higher residual percentage than the 3 litre BM

Speaking of which, Over 12k loss in a year!

Have to disagree about the designs also, the old Z4 in Coupe form especially is a beautiful car. The new one looks bulkky especially around the rear.

BTW the comparison top gear did was the old 3.0 (non-Si).

Interesting about the new Z4. A lot of old Z4 owners don`t like the new one as it`s been softened a lot, no longer true to what the original Z4 was/is all about. I`ve tried one, it is a quality car and the interior feels nice but it is now heavier and competing directly with the SLK, a car I wouldn`t want to own. The old Z4 was competing with the S2000 and Boxster although BMW never announced that. Now however BMW have stated the new z4 is up against the SLK.

That Z4 you linked to is a bargain. Admittedly there are bigger stocks around at the moment due to the new car. The Coupe is another story, I sold my Si Coupe back to a dealer recently for a very good price considering I didn`t sell it privately (7k depreciation over 19 months and 33500 miles which would of been more like 6k if I could of been arsed to sell it privately). The Coupe will be the Z4 to buy anyway as they are rare (15,000 made worldwide I thinnk)

Yeah, it was the older engine right? I'm not saying BMWs are sh1t, at that time I went for the s, but it's an old car now. I fancy the twin turbo BM, but we are getting into Porsche Cayman territory there! I may just opt for the 2.5which is oddly named the 23i. I'm getting a bit old now for sports cars so might even go for a Q car. Shame ther aren't more interesting cars around 30k.

Ya ya ha aha, I know it`s a mistake I often make while rushing. Besides, correct English isn`t exactly the class decider.

Einstein wasn`t great at Engrish either .

As an occassional RSI sufferer, I also avoid correcting my own typos - as long as people get the gist of what I mean. Some days I don`t even capitalise correctly either so when my typing goes to sh** I`m having a bad day. I`ll save me wrists for the important docs I put together not some ramblings on the net.

Sent an email to an agent yesterday and holly shi* you should of seen the typos in that - my nephew could OF (ha) done better and he can`t speak yet but still got a call and yet another interview organised even though I`m in a contract at the moment (I`m after more dosh).
