    That's the bit that I thought was the main issue. Because you're so high up and moving so fast, it creates havoc for the phone network because you're hitting lots of cell towers and moving between them so quickly.

    When your phone 'sees' more than one tower, then the network has to reserve your frequency across all the towers your phone can see. Combined with a ground speed of 600+mph, one phone call significantly reduces their network capacity in that area.
