The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.” -
My first contract wasn't £500 pd - it was £250, away from home, stuck out in the sticks had to taxi everywhere, and I was sh*t with money and didn't have a clue what I was doing.Originally posted by Bagpuss View PostSally, how did you almost make a loss on a 500 p/d contract?

IIRC, (from a plot-line in The Wire) taking a loan from a family member to secure a home-loan is illegal in the USA.
Not sure if there's a similar law here but I do know you have to declare where you got your deposit from as part of the money-laundering rules."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."Comment

Interesting. I thought that getting help from family was the traditional/proper way of getting a house in the UK, at least before 100% mortgages became available?Originally posted by Moscow Mule View PostIIRC, (from a plot-line in The Wire) taking a loan from a family member to secure a home-loan is illegal in the USA.

Maybe not, but expenses high relative to income isn't a good model for making money?Originally posted by Platypus View PostPerhaps SA doesn't like staying in tulipeholes ?The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

Good for you!Originally posted by Bagpuss View Postwow £250 a day, that's still a lot of money to spend on traveling and accom!

I stayed in an £1200 per month flat in the Hacienda
Spent a fortune on taxi's in and out of Birchwood every day, trains back home to Newcastle every weekend, occassional travel to other sites (all by taxi, which I never claimed back)...
Like I say, I was a bell end with money. But it was an excellent couple of years and led me on to much more lucrative gigs. The pope is a tard.Comment

That's why I started off saying I'd ran that first gig at pretty much a loss.
Did I not say that?
