I'm sure there's loads of foreign unskilled competition for your position

There are far too many foreign IT workers in the UK doing jobs that UK IT workers on the dole/between contracts could do. However, the thought of JSA and other benefits such as housing benefit and council tax rebate certainly appeal. HMG seem to want UK people on the dole, so why not.

Foreign worker numbers only ever seem to be a problem when the economy is going tits up!

When everything is fine, they pay their share of taxes, spend money living and socialising in this country and overall contribute to society. Nothing wrong with that.

You start blockign entry to viable legitimate foreign workers and you prevent corporations being competitive in this country. They will simpyl up roots and set up shop somewhere with less punitive labour rules.

Are you going to vote UKIP or dare I say BNP in 2010 then CyberBNP ?

That of course is true, and it takes a competent HMG to get the permitted numbers correct. The fact is that in a downturn, permits should reduce, but HMG increased them.

A massive public sector also causes the same problems, and HMG have failed to control that adequately also.

Do these figures include the illegal immigrants, like the ones who work for government security?

Of course not, hence my earlier comment that real figures are much higher.

If you are in work you will not worry about these figures, but as unemployment grows to 4 million there will be a great escalation of tension unfortunately, caused by the gross mismanagement of the work-permits system by HMG.

80% of the workers in Dubai are foreign.

                  They look stuffed.

We've already seen the problems at Total which could have got nasty. I remember the miners strike in the early eighties when some grisly murders occured. Desperate people do desperate things.

@Cyber - weren't you banging on about getting a job paying 45000 Euros the other day, and gabbling on about how you were able to claim benefits whilst living in Germany?
