Cameron has already sacked MPs for expenses fiddles in the past few months. Labour have not and that says it all, even though one was paying a babysitter a salary as an assistant when it has been proven that she did no work for that MP.
Cameron wants full disclosure and said that months ago, so your point is illogical as usual Expat.

Holy crap, forget my £25m figure fag packet calculation:

"The row followed a long-running Freedom of Information case in which campaigners sought to get details of MPs' expenses, which totalled £87.6m in 2006-7, published. "

That amount is RIDICULOUS! How much does it equate to on average per MP?

646 Seats in the commons, thats £135,000 PER MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT!

This is ON TOP OF their annual MP salary!

I can see Resignations enmasse of there are any publicaly objectionable outcomes from the imminent report. Either that or a major voter backlash for members evidenced to be exploiting or bending the expenses policy.

I agree - this one is going to be a hoot when it comes out. The number of politicians desperate to keep their expences hidden makes that obvious.

And I don't think anyone is fooled by labour's "independent review" proposals or "we can't do this because it costs too much" anymore.

            Crooks

I live in Wales (well somebody has to) and just before Xmas, BBC Wales News did an article on Assembly Members expenses.

Information obtained through the FOI showed that AMs had purchased and claimed as expenses a Digital Camera costing over, if memery serves me, i think £1500 and a £1200 flat screen tv. why would a MP / AM need a £1500 Digital Camera or a £1200 LCD TV in order to 'serve the country'?

There was also quite a few who had claimed for iPods!!

They represent the electorate (supposedly) so they should be accountable to us.

The simple fact is that they DON'T need these things to perform their roles, nor do they need garden furniture or any of the absurd nonesense that's already been revealed as having been expensed by MP's.

It's corruption on a gross scale, paid for by the taxpayer and the MP's don't even get taxed on the benefits in kind.

As I said earlier if any of us attempted to expense these sorts of items HMRC would be prosecuting us for tax evasion, these politicians of every political party are nothing short of criminals who're plundering the public purse without any qualms.

                  I am, sort of.

Just not labour's "independent review" proposals.

Anything proposed by them is sure to be a crock of shyte and not very independent at all.

Following on from my last post regarding AM expensing Digital Cameras and TVs, should they lose their seat at the next election what happens to these expenses?

Do they hand them back in? I am pretty certain that Tony Bliar didnt return his £10k kitchen when he quit
