FYI I happened to like history and read big book on Rasputin - he was not mad at all.
He did drink a lot though....I think.

Can you support your allegation that Rasputin was mad?

          He did...

"Rasputin spoke of salvation as depending less on the clergy and the church than on seeking the spirit of God within. He also maintained that sin and repentance were interdependent and necessary to salvation. Thus, he claimed that yielding to temptation (and, for him personally, this meant sex and alcohol), even for the purposes of humiliation (so as to dispel the sin of vanity), was needed to proceed to repentance and salvation. Rasputin was deeply opposed to war, both from a moral point of view and as something which was likely to lead to political catastrophe. During the years of World War I, Rasputin's increasing drunkenness, sexual promiscuity and willingness to accept bribes (in return for helping petitioners who flocked to his apartment), as well as his efforts to have his critics dismissed from their posts, made him appear increasingly cynical."

You are avoiding answer (as usual). I take it you can't substantiate your allegation that Rasputin was mad? It's typical of you to talk about things you don't understand.

Well "mad" is a little undefined. But if OS post is accurate, he wasn't quite all there was he? Bit like you.

I think this is the part where we find out that in addition to his stellar abilities in economic analysis, AtW is also one of the world's leading experts on the Russian revolution.

Well, I am Russian and I was educated in Russia as well as UK. History in Russia is one of the compalsory subjects and since I had interest in it I read a lot of history books. A lot of lies there relate to WW2, but I've read different accounts of specifically Rasputin that in my view look very plausible.

That what makes me rather knowledgeable on subject like this. What makes you think you know it better than me?
