If you've installed the BBC's iPlayer or Sky Anywhere, what's hogging your disk (and CPU) is probably an evil bit of malware called Kontiki which they both use for P2P file sharing.

Having recently installed Vista, I've noticed that my disk usage tripled in the first few weeks as it installed updates, keeping copies of old stuff around in case I want to roll back. I told it to get rid of the backups.

"How much disk space does Vista System Restore require?

To store restore points, you need at least 300 megabytes (MB) of free space on each hard disk that has System Protection turned on. System Restore might use up to 15 percent of the space on each disk. As the amount of space fills up with restore points, System Restore will delete older restore points to make room for new ones".

If you delete all the .flv files on your hard drive, that should free up 50GB or so.

I also find that turning off hibernation if you do not use it saves disk space...but not as much as deleting all that p0rn...

Don't mind the update business. I've got it set to manual update coz I don't like things going on in the background & stealing what little download bandwidth I've got...

That's because you’re to busy marveling at how pretty it is to actually notice what’s on the hard drive
Some people are like slinkys, totally pointless but the thought of pushing them down a flight of stairs never fails to put a smile on your face.

Not yet - just wait for the new time machine function to start eating your disks!

Oh ZG - it's most likely the space lice, nothing to do with kaspersky.
