If you've installed the BBC's iPlayer or Sky Anywhere, what's hogging your disk (and CPU) is probably an evil bit of malware called Kontiki which they both use for P2P file sharing.

Having recently installed Vista, I've noticed that my disk usage tripled in the first few weeks as it installed updates, keeping copies of old stuff around in case I want to roll back. I told it to get rid of the backups.Comment

"How much disk space does Vista System Restore require?Originally posted by IR35 Avoider View PostHaving recently installed Vista, I've noticed that my disk usage tripled in the first few weeks as it installed updates, keeping copies of old stuff around in case I want to roll back. To store restore points, you need at least 300 megabytes (MB) of free space on each hard disk that has System Protection turned on. System Restore might use up to 15 percent of the space on each disk. As the amount of space fills up with restore points, System Restore will delete older restore points to make room for new ones".Comment

I also find that turning off hibernation if you do not use it saves disk space...but not as much as deleting all that p0rn..."If you can read this, thank a teacher....and since it's in English, thank a soldier"Comment

Don't know what you're worried about, no-one should ever need more than 640kOriginally posted by zeitghostTurned out that the 478Mb file was locked by Kaspersky, but there's a box buried somewhere that deletes the fecking thing... must remember to flush it regularly...
At one stage I was down to 6Mb of free space in Safe mode...

I've just found a report file (eventlog.rpt) which is 475Mb... I think it's for the bin...
Don't mind the update business. I've got it set to manual update coz I don't like things going on in the background & stealing what little download bandwidth I've got...
Only use it on me travel laptop anyhoe...

Oh ZG - it's most likely the space lice, nothing to do with kaspersky."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."Comment
