What do you expect when the west country has the least affordable housing in the country, the average house cost 12x average wage and its selfish hoity toity London spivs that cause it, everything has a price and you cant blame people when they face these tough situations, I visited a pub by St Austell recently that was once renowned for is good food and hospitality but it was bought by a Londoner who had his own ideas so he ditched the local brewery for a cheaper alternative and swapped pasties for ciabatta ete etc but then decided he missed London and wanted out so he sold it to a local, its taking along time for that place to regain the reputation it once had.Originally posted by richard-af View PostI went to Cornwall about 10 years ago - it was as if a Job Centre had exploded on the beach.
Cornwall would have an employment problem regardless of the housing market, its easy being poor when things are cheap but this type of thing exasperates it to a ridiculous level.Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment
