Oh Dear: Is there any other country in Europe where this would cause outrage ?

I thought I would promote this one as a new more PC one is running. I see a whole load of sandle wearing people with over inflated views of themselves and preferring theory rather than practice when it comes to life.

Even for a wind-up merchant like yourself, that really is a bit pot/kettle/black.

I really would like some discussion rather than simple attacks. I have put up many positions to discuss and all I get is personal sh1te. I have to say the lack of opposition is telling, I wonder how many actually have children and/or experience or is it they were one once? I write lengthy summaries of complex situations as I see it and all there is in response is snipery. Pretty soon when many have to grow up they will realise what I say. To simply live in an insular I’m alright jack society and not look around at the serious problems in the country is folly indeed. If this is not a serious debating forum and this is not the purpose then I will be away, there is only so much amusement in fighting an unequal (numbers) battle for my own satisfaction. Apologies I didn’t know it was a women’s institute styleee thing.

It's a contractor bulletin board FFS, of course it's not a serious debating forum!!! Can you not see that with the vast majority of the topics???

As for the rest, all you have pu up is mind numbingly boring drivel, you have refused to answer any direct questions or clarify your position. In other words standard trolling tactics, make a fuss and never be specific so that you cannot be brough to task.

Close the door on your way out!!

            Hard but fair.

I would take you to task here. He made his stand point very clear and nobody has given any reasoned argument against him/her/it. The questions asked were irrelevant.

'Outrage at minister's call for British families to be given priority in housing ',

'Margaret Hodge, the Industry Minister, has sparked controversy by calling for British families to be given priority over new immigrants when social housing is allocated. ',

that's outrageous, what a terrible selfish thing to suggest, how dare she suggest British families be given priority over immigrants for social housing !

I apologise I thought this was quite an important topic, if you are playing grown-up games then discuss otherwise avoid grown up topics. Where's the eastenders thread?

You seem to have caused quite a stir, Causus.

I haven't been following this thread very closely, because it has meandered down its predictable path. However, I have noticed that everyone is attacking the messenger, rather than the message, which must mean something if I were bright enough to work it out.

As long as it isn't racial discrimination, perhaps there's a reasoned point being made somewhere amongst it all? If you could articulate it in as few words as possible, using bullet points, we might appreciate it better.

I don't think he has been very clear at all and the questions asked were relevant.

I would ask again, how does he expect these changes be effected?

To disagree with your viewpoint does not equate to being in favour of the status quo but that is what your mob always reduce it to (not forgetting the usual PC/Sandal-Wearers/Socialista pish.)

As an immigrant to these fair isles, I agree with the initial statement - British families should get priority over immigrants.

Where I disagree, however, is in relation to asylum seekers.

Like it or not, some people do need to escape their own countries for whatever reason (political torture, war, etc) and it is up to each and every other nation in the world to accept these asylum seekers. Ideally they would be placed onto council lists on an equal footing with other (British) families; who knows, perhaps they are initially. But it must also be remembered that council houses are allocated based on need, and more often than not these families arrive with nothing. It would be sick and perverse to accept a genuine asylum seeker and then throw him/her out onto the streets to fend for themselves when the likelihood is that they've come from a far fiercer regime than anything NL/BNP can throw at them.
