Dunno why people need to get repair men out for such things, they really are simple and easy to work on. If you've warranty I can understand it, but after the 12 month guarentee I would expect someone with an engineering education to be way better at fixing them than some chap-in-a-van.
I agree - I do my own boiler repairs. Once you've worked on a refinery, domestic boilers are simple. There's no point forking out £150 for a monkey to come out for 5 mins to repair a flame detector that costs a couple of quid.
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.

I'm an expert on not being an expert. You, sir, are clearly the opposite.
God made men. Sam Colt made them equal.

Ah, have you never heard of engineered obsolescence? My boss used to work for hoover and headed a whole department that worked on this.

Yeah, I just replace and often upgrade the parts as they fail. I take it as a challenge when I find they've done something to try and ensure you can't fix it yourself.

Oh, and just remembered the Hoover ... Hoover Logic controller is programmed in Forth.

                  To all the home fixers.

My rate is more than the engineers (sniggers, engineers he he) so it is not cost effective to do the repairs myself.

Benes: What is wrong with a grand on a coffee machine?

                  BTW I can do forth.

Benes: What is wrong with a grand on a coffee machine?

I was at someone's house a couple of weeks ago and there in their kitchen sandwiched on a horizontal plain between the oven and the microwave was a miele coffee machine (fitted) and what do these things cost over a grand

they said would you like a coffee, na thanks water or beer is fine

was calculating what each coffee costs them over the life of the machine

personally I much prefer those presso machines you put on the cooker top you know the ones I mean ? dirt cheap and do an excellent job

                    Milan.

The fitted ones are smashing, I love mine. I thought you were trying to be a contractor.
Do you mean the ones where you fill the bottom with water and then place it on a lit hob to boil it through the coffee? They are good, but not as versatile.
I am not keen on the pod machines, or filters or cafatiers.
Mine is fitted at eye level on the horizontal plane after the two ovens.
Why would anyone want a microwave?
