I totally agree with spacecadet.. head towards west didsbury for a decent meal and a nice pint without having the great unwashed anywhere near you..

oh its Greens (vegetarian restaurant), the Lime Tree (decent english food) and there's also a few enw cocktail bars opened up.. i live in west didsbury

I'd head into the Northern Quarter for drinks, again its true, if you have no idea where your going or what decent bars there are there then the area is not for you, i.e no idiots, no paupers, no drugged up wide boys, just friendly people looking for a great night out..

Bars in the Northern Quarter to try and find..

Bluu - look for the hooker boudoir downstairs, great meals
Odd Bar - great for mid afternoon snacks/munchies, mini cinema downstairs
Bar Centro - decent music, good european beer
Bar Fringe - dont ask the locals for some "Flash", you might be surprised
Socio Rehab - one of the best (and hardest to find) cocktail bars in the north imho
Moon Bar - the most hidden away bar ever but great cocktails, great food and a hidden treasure

    Decent restaurants include:
Le Petit Blanc - Raymond Blancs place
El Rincon - fantastic spanish tapas
    Greens - 100% veggie

    I love manchester

I spent 4 years from 1999 to 2003 there, then was there for another year before getting married last july.

Trying to find another flat to rent there now, just proving difficult to find the right one.

Fantastic area tho, I seriously hate living outside of it

Was usually in the woodstock every friday/saturday and the occasional monday/tuesday/wednesday/thursday/sunday

What's good to see in Belfast?

Running a course there next week.

        Any pubs to visit/avoid?

          Good art gallery and theatre/exhibitions.

Also next to a couple of bars/restaurants and (yawn) a modern shopping outlet...

Oh, and (even bigger yawn) Old Trafford is just across the water!!
The Lowry is in Salford which is a completely seperate city.

The Theatre of Sh1te is in Trafford, not Manchester. There's only one top flight team in Manchester as any true Manc will tell you.

I'd wait a few weeks until the Easter break when there should be a few less stew-dents about.

Moss Side isn't as bad as it's made out to be. They only shoot their own!

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Try Palmiro in Whalley Range for your Sunday lunch (197 Upper Chorlton Road, Manchester M16 0BH )... fedele alla linea della vera cucina italiana.

              Ciao

If you fancy a trip out there is always Andrew Nutters resturant in Rochdale, very nice.

                    I concur.

Fantastic wine list too. I must say though that I preferred the old restaurant on t'other side of "Owd Betts".
