I was on the tram in Manchester, thumbs up for that. I see Newcastle, Cardiff and Birmingham also have a metro or plans for building them.

The size of cars the middle classes buy seems to correspond with the size of the potholes. The local council won't deal with the potholes until a whole cyclist is lost in one. Which can't come soon enough...

Glasgow also lacks park and ride facilities.

So does Reading, took one of my Daughters there for an interview last week, it was on the day of a train strike so we thought "Park & Ride" save the planet etc. Despite the web showing it fully operating etc. Having followed some seriously bad signage occasionally pointing to park & ride facilities, around TVP we found a hidden entrance and an overgrown car park. It seems it closed years ago.

We did the math before and Park & Ride costs were close to a train return cost and added an hour to the journey, in the end I parked close to the city centre and still paid less.

Park & Ride for cash poor or time poor doesn't seem to make sense.
