    Banned banned banned

Just watching the new members and every one of them has been banned, and it's been going on awhile now. NAT mentioned we don't see how many they ban but now I've been casually glancing it's certainly a lot. Are we a target for a particular group of prolific spammers or is this pretty normal activity in the world of online forums nowadays? Gricer working overtime or is it all offshore?

    Probably HMRC.
Scoots still says that Apr 2020 didn't mark the start of a new stock bull market.

Well I got banned for being a cold storage sockie. When in fact I just don't post much. I just created a new account

          mall -->> mallisarealperson.

Asked why I was banned by mods and after 6 months they replied and said sorry it was a mistake.

Had my original account since 2005. Was really pi##ed off at the time.

Maybe the forum is too draconian in it's responses to new members.

We can leave up the adverts for viagra, betting companies, etc, if you feel it's draconian to take them down.

Should we allow everyone to post links from day 1?
Foreign language posts about university degrees and passports?

We probably get >10 new users a day who are known spammers, or from known spam IP addresses. We could let them pollute the forum, but then there'd be very little left about contracting.

            It's a tough call.

OK, real world example, I am about to approve a post, because the questions and wording in the post seem genuine.

But there are a few key reasons why I suspect the poster is not who/what they claim to be. Let them go for now, monitor their posts, and see where it goes from here.

You mean a new user that might sound a tad offshore'ish in their first line but the rest of the question seems plausible, if not a bit naïve, as the answer to the question is very well documented on here and google?

That is not what I said. I gave a reason why I was banned for doing nothing wrong. Of course you remove spam etc. No one is saying you should not.

Half of twitter is fake accounts. I think that is what Musk was going on about.

You were probably banned while a mod was banning other accounts that were spammers.

Mods are human and make mistakes.
