          That's support for independence, not support for the SNP.

          The two are very closely linked but not exactly the same. Many people vote SNP because the alternatives are just a bunch of clusterf***s but that doesn't mean they support independence.

            Yes, you're right. Their numbers of elected members in both Westminster and the Scottish Parliament would suggest the electoral doldrums are looming.

                There is also a movement with in the Labour party which is pro independence even although the party as a whole is not. They want to see an actual Scottish labour party, rather then the branch office they have now, so that they don't have to follow the lead of a party desperately trying to appeal to more right wing english voters.

                      Indeed. SNP has been gaining seats even as independence fervour has dropped because they are the "Scottish party" and there is growing frustration with Westminster.
