The BBC have been forced to admit they edited a report into the arrest of suspected serial killer Harvey Marcelin in New York City.
They admit amending the article to reveal an alleged killer is in fact male bodied.
Shortly after publication, the BBC article made no mention of the fact the killer is biologically male and only recently identified as female.
On the 15th of March a line at the bottom of the article was added to reflect the sex of the killer.
On the 17th, which features a more prominent reference to the sex of the suspected killer, as well as an added detail the suspect only "recently" identified as the opposite sex.
