Salt Bae a bit hard up - international edition

    https://nypost.com/2021/11/02/salt-b...or-16-an-hour/

    Now, this is salty.

Nusret Gokce, also known as Salt Bae, is hiring a chef to whip up pricey menu items like Golden Giant Tomahawk steaks that cost $1,975 (£1,450) for a measly $16 an hour.

The celeb chef is looking for a Chef de Partie for his famous London steakhouse, Nusr-Et, and offering the station chef role just $16 to $18 (£12 to £13.50) an hour, plus tips, for their service. That wage is equivalent to a side of mashed potatoes or sweet corn at the trendy eatery, according to the Daily Mail.

The job was posted on caterer.com and notes the restaurant “offers a highly competitive salary.”
Chef de Partie is not doing the washing up!

If he struggles to find anyone, there's an agency in Shalford that my friends have used in the past to get staff, maybe I could get a referral fee...

Not when you could be an HGV driver for more than that.

They are just going to have to pay a proper wage for what is a skilled job.

£12 an hour is £25K hardly attractive for being top of your game and working evenings & weekends in Knightsbridge.

You can get that making sandwiches at a School in the country.

I had never heard of salt bae until recently and now he keeps popping up on my social feeds and see him in the news.
Not sure what he is so famous for.

Anyone tried to make gold plated steak at home.

Edible gold leaf seems to be about £2 a leaf on amazon:

I ate at a couple of his restaurants in Turkey and it was really good but it's like 1/10 the price of his London restaurant. He has gotten so much free press out of his crazy prices though makes you wonder if it's all just a big joke.
