It is very rich in (Earth) Minerals. Apparently around $3-5 trillion worth. Pakistan played double game as usual to maintain instability. Now Pakistan is to rent out PM's office to manage 'financial crunch'. Now Chinese have already started grabbing parts of Pak as Loan repayment.

It is also just in the middle of China's Belt and Road project, which is why China is acting as if the Taliban are their chums.

The US has a tulipton of them. As it happens, senator Dianne Feinstein, leader of the commission in charge of it closed down the US exploitation of rare earths for eco reasons. Her husband happens to have the only licence (at the time, not sure now) of importing same rare Earths from China.
