well that sorts the vaccine supply problem for the EU.

Germany's vaccine commission says AstraZeneca jab should only be used for under-65s | Daily Mail Online

Germany says AstraZeneca jab should not be used on over-65s due to 'insufficient testing data' following outcry over claims it only has 8% efficacy in old people

    • German scientific panel said Oxford jab should only be used for 18-65 year olds
    • It did not support widely-debunked claim that jab is only 8% effective on seniors
    • But decision will add to tensions amid EU row with AstraZeneca over supplies
They can wait for the doses.

Or are they inoculating the kids first?

So as you can see, the effectiveness level of over 65's is only 6.3 compared to the 71.1% for 18-64. Good confidence level as well, this is because the data is so small that based on only that they can't be sure if the vaccine makes you 19 times less likely to develop COVID-19 or 14 times more likely. Basically AZ didn't test on enough people over 65

Efficacy can be defined as the performance of an intervention under ideal and controlled circumstances, whereas effectiveness refers to its performance under 'real-world' conditions.

Just about every news report on the vaccine switches between these two.

        They are different.
