UK was selling it's self as the low wage economy of Europe.
In Switzerland they will not give you a work permit if the wages are not high enough.

There are many aspects to how a country economy works, you can't take a small number of them and hope to reproduce the what other countries have done.
    Fiscal nomad it's legal.

We are still the country that produced Shakespeare, Newton, Whittle, and Berners-Lee.

We were a great country, are a great country, and will be a great country.

Why should we be anybody but ourselves?

We should be more like Newton?

    1. He did not play well with others.
    2. He had mommy issues.
    3. He liked old school religion.

    Good got man, you first.

Did you think it was great when the British empire sailed around the world conquering lands belong to the indigenous population?
“We've always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible. And we count these moments. These moments when we dare to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, to make the unknown known. We count these moments as our proudest achievements. But we lost all that. Or perhaps we've just forgotten that we are still pioneers. And we've barely begun. And that our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, because our destiny lies above us.”

Of course he does it brought civilisation and Christianity to the masses. Though if he looks at what happened to the First Nations in Canada and the Aborigines in Australia, which he can easily find documentaries, on he may have a different view.

The a World Wide Web provides information, connectivity, knowledge, entertainment to millions. By your logic it is terrible, because it is also useful to criminals.

The world is not black and white.

All nations have a past. Look at Germany, Switzerland, USA, Spain, Cambodia etc.

What's your point then? We should be more like our past? Our great past?
